Scratch (born October 18, 1990, age 22) is a fictional robot first seen in the comedy cartoon series, Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. He was invented by Dr. Robotnik in hopes of being the ultimate robot that would lead to Sonic's capture.
He is voiced first by Jim Cummings, then by Phil Hayes.
He is a largely comic relief character with his brother, Grounder. Like his brother, he is generally incompetent but very arrogant, believing himself to be the favourite of his creator, Dr. Ivo Robotnik.
Along with Grounder, he is often used in Robotnik's plans to take over Mobius, and is intrustmental in his many attempts at capturing Sonic the Hedgehog. These plans often fail due to the pair's stupidity.
Scratch certainly has more brains then Grounder, often seeing through Sonic's and Tails' disguise much faster then Grounder, though Scratch is still easily tricked by the two. Scratch is also the one who comes up with some of the plans to capture Sonic, so this shows that he does have some smarts in him.
He is also quite a cowardly robot, as he is afraid of the dark (), though this is only shown once, as he seems perfectly alright in other episodes.
It is also hinted at that Scratch may regret having to working for Robotnik, as in the episode Hero Of The Year, when Dr. Robotnik is watching a clip show of all his evil deeds, Scratch says to himself in a sad voice, "It's no wonder we couldn't find him any friends." He will also mock his master when the opportunity allows it. In the episode Road Hog, Scratch and Grounder both have some fun with Dr. Robotnik while he's under a hypnotic spell (such as making him act like a robo-dog, and turning him into an elephant).
Physical Appearance Edit
Scratch resembles a tall, humanoid chicken, similar to Clucker (named "Kokekko" in Japan), one of the robots in the Wing Fortress Zone of Sonic 2. He is well known because of his prominent cockadoodle-like laugh, "Ba-ha Ha-HAA!".
Scratch is a Badnik robot created by Dr. Robotnik as adversaries of Sonic the Hedgehog. Together with Grounder, he forms the greater part of Robotnik's "Super Special Sonic Search and Smash Squad" (often abbreviated to SSSSS Squad and, occasionally, 6-S). He was originally voiced by Jim Cummings, though it was later changed to Phil Hayes for the majority of the show's lifespan.
